Andover is the best boarding school. The faculty cares about teaching and the students are extremely interested in academics. Small classes and many options make the academic experience unmatched in the world.

Extracurricular activities are what set Andover apart from most other schools. It's a pretty unique experience to get to host a radio show or write for a quality weekly paper in high school. The student body is extremely involved in extracurriculars and the range of choices is quite wide. Students are given a chance to try many different activities and decide what they like. Upon entering college, you have had a unique experience and are likely to have a much better feel for what types of activities you enjoy.
The housing at Andover is certainly far better than my college housing. Overall, Andover is less strict than other boarding schools in terms of sign-in at night and permission to leave campus during the day (the town of Andover is a 5-10 minute walk from campus...it's nothing super exciting--a CVS and Starbucks are the highlights--but it gets the job done). Unlike most boarding schools, Andover does not have "closed weekends" when boarders cannot leave campus. This is a testament to the fact that people want to stay on campus and the school does not need to require it to maintain a lively atmosphere on weekends. The dining hall is being renovated and should be much improved over the next year. Still, it's not quite home cooking.
