McDonogh School review by Harvard University student.
The humanities classes at McDonough prepared me for Harvard. The teachers care about the subjects they teach and inspired me to major in philosophy or English. I knew that wherever I would end up, I would have the skills to do well and enter the workforce. The liberal arts focus of the McDonough experience taught me to value different perspectives. I have a new perspective on diversity that I would have gained at other schools. Teachers are easily available and talk to you when needed. The school focuses on reading and writing more than anything, which helps with SAT preparation.

Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...
The school is very diverse and caters to all different groups of students. The administration is very liberal and cares about students of colors. While most students are athletic, you need not be an athlete to have fun at school. As most students are day students, advising resources are geared towards academics, but do not disappoint. Most students are wealthy and white but minority students do exist. ...
