Oregon Episcopal School review by Cornell University student.
Oregon Episcopal School is known as a national powerhouse in the arena of independent student-led scientific research projects. Students annually present their work at venues such as the International Science and Engineering Fair, Intel Science Talent Search, and Siemens Westinghouse. While science is the academic focus, the school maintains a strong humanities program and has a wide array of other offerings. The student body as a whole is very genial and uniquely encourages intelligence in association with popularity. One of the aspects of my education from Oregon Episcopal School which directly translated to success at a university level was the ability and courage to speak with professors and teaching assistants about any source of confusion. One aspect which perhaps didn’t adequately prepare me for Cornell was the lack of emphasis put on exams and exam taking (which is the basis of my entire grade in courses like Organic Chemistry). As a whole, my academic experience at Oregon Episcopal School was positive, the class sizes are small, the workload is manageable, and the support from both faculty and students alike is invaluable.

They have contacts at most of the major universities and feel perfectly comfortable picking up the phone and advocating for a student to get accepted somewhere they feel is a good fit for that student. For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...
Oregon Episcopal School offers dormitory housing which is acceptable and incredibly diverse with more than half of the students from Asia. It is located in a remarkably quiet suburban neighborhood which is safe and easy for commuters. The dinning facilities located on campus are incredible and are one of the aspects of the quality of life which I think is most luring. Most of the students commute from all over the greater Portland area. Additionally, Oregon Episcopal School has a beautiful campus and is constantly upgrading facilities. I would recommend visiting the campus, I feel....
