St. George's School Vancouver review by McGill University student.
St. George's academics are very elite. They prepare you for college unbelievably. Throughout my years at Saints we had to right exams worth a fair chunk of our grade, twice a year. This was good preparation for the real thing once at university. I also found that Saints really tried to broaden our scope of knowledge by teaching us more than we needed to know. At university a lot of this extra information has proven to be very useful. The teachers are very dedicated and very good. My grade 12 chemistry teacher once said, "I am not here to give you a good grade so you can get into university, I'm going to make sure you don't fail first year chemistry." That being said I didn't do so well in the course but once at McGill I did phenomenally well in this class. This is just one example of many. Also, I feel that the best part about saints was that the teachers were really there to help you. Although I have had some bad teachers(who hasn't), the majority were fantastic. My high schools record speaks for itself. We are always higher than the provincial average on the provincial examinations. This isn't just by a few percent but in many cases by more than 10%. Lastly, our university placements are better than probably any other school in Canada, with many graduates attending ivy leagues and the top tier schools in Canada. Overall, the academics were amazing and a great preparation for post-secondary education.

They have contacts at most of the major universities and feel perfectly comfortable picking up the phone and advocating for a student to get accepted somewhere they feel is a good fit for that student. However, these counselors are certainly not magic bullets. They cannot guarantee that a student will get into an Ivy League university...
For those wishing to move on to Oxford or Cambridge, the provision is second-to-none. In the months running up to application and interview, every subject faculty offers classes (often run by former Oxbridge tutors) exploring further areas of their subject as well as offering advice on personal statements, interview technique and more...

For the interview, dress conservatively. Try to be very clean and put together. Also, I was a tour guide for two years and at the end of every tour, we were asked to evaluate the candidate so if you think the tour is not apart of the process, you are very wrong. Ask questions and be interested. Also, tip for the parents: the kids speak on the tour. Do not ask their questions for them...
Most younger siblings have an easy time in the admissions process. I can only think of one case of a younger sibling not being admitted. About half of the students who entered with me had come from public schools. The remainder came from private K-6 schools, or had transferred from other New York private schools The Elizabeth Morrow School and St. Bernard were two of the larger feeder schools...
Everything around saints is amazing. Situated in a very safe and beautiful part of Vancouver it provides a very calm and serene environment. For a high school, the facilities are bar none. Honestly, my high schools science equipment was better than that of my university. With brand new facilities including a new boathouse, track, and tennis courts, saints really is the best....
